Among the characteristics I hope to bring to the position, discernment may rank as the most critical. I do my homework before voicing an opinion. I understand the complexities taxing entities must navigate when developing budgets, having done so with 30+ million dollar budgets for more than a decade. Most importantly, I recognize the importance of teamwork when working with a group of elected officials and public employees.
During the last twenty years spent in very public positions, I believe I have proven my willingness to do what's right even if it's not popular, and avoid doing something that's not right simply because it might be popular. I have always done everything in my power to be available to answer questions about policies, programs, and fiscal concerns. My career has been spent building relationships based on trust and mutual respect, regardless of whether all parties shared the same perspective. I appreciate that opinions can differ, and that not all questions have an easy "yes/no" answer. I can promise stakeholders that these traits and goals will continue to be my focus if elected Mayor of Springtown.
